We performed 12/12/09 at Forte’ and the photos of Lovecore are by Tom Price of The D Magazine!
Moon Trent – A fiery mix of electro-pop and noise rock, this singer-songwriter is a veteran of the Modesto music scene, with poignant lyricism and intriguingly twisted instrumentals.
Lovecore is Irene Carrillo of Modesto. When she plays her beautiful acoustic songs and poems solo on guitar, she calls herself “Lovecore”. Irene is also lead singer for a great Central Valley band called The Femmebotz.

It was a Cinderella Story in truth, the team that nobody knew overcame the one team they had ever been defeated by, and became the 2009 Champions of the Merced Youth Soccer Association – Girls Under 15 team.
Coach Steven Cervantes and Assistant Coach Eddy Cervantes came into Forte Frozen Yogurt one Thursday and sat down with Alex Lu-Pon to discuss the possible sponsorship of their newly drafted and formed team. The idea was simple, sponsor the team so the girls could have uniforms, but please decide in the next 30 minutes so the team does not get disqualified from the league. So Alex signed up with Steven and Eddy with a hearty handshake and a promise for a positive team spirit and a schedule where Alex could come and watch some games.
Three months passed and Eddy kept Alex in the loop. The team was winning almost every game. On November 19th, Eddy invited Alex to come watch the semi-finals which the team had qualified for with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. The girls played well in the semi-finals. Each team seemed to rally as they each scored goals keeping the score tied until 5 minutes remained in the semi-final match. Alex felt awkward; the only game he went to watch and the girls were in danger of being eliminated. But then the Forte team started to work together and through a tremendous team effort the decisive winning goal was scored. The Forte Frozen Yogurt team was going to the Championship Match; to face the one team that had defeated them in the regular season: The Flames.
Noon on Sunday, November 22. The sun was warm but the wind was chilly. The Forte Frozen Yogurt girls took to the field. The game was tense at several points, but a definitive victory was carved: final score Forte Frozen Yogurt-8; Flames-1. The entire team cheered and Alex was honored to have witnessed such heart and spirit from such young girls. An epic game with teams so aptly named Forte Frozen Yogurt against the Flames it was befitting of a Disney movie.
Congratulations girls! You earned it!
